Charles Darwin was a 19th Century life scientist and explorer and author of the book, On the Origin of Species. Darwin developed theories about evolution while studying many species, most famously the finches, on the Galapagos Islands. Darwin catalogued many different shapes of finch beaks, which revealed much about the evolutionary process. The cover highlights the Feature "From the National Academies," which describes resources from the National Academies for teaching evolution. [Background image supplied by NASA and the NSSDC.
